IWSI Career Programs Shine at Carson's Construction Job and Apprenticeship Fair

On Saturday, July 15th, the Institute for Workplace Skills & Innovation (IWSI) was thrilled to attend the Construction Job and Apprenticeship Fair, an event organized by Carson's Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes and South Bay Investment Development Board. The fair presented an exceptional opportunity to promote two of our groundbreaking projects: the Career Launchpad (CLP) and the Ready, Willing, and Able (RWA) initiative.

During the event, job seekers could take advantage of career counseling sessions and explore paid apprenticeship opportunities. Approximately 200 individuals attended, keen to discover the benefits these programs offer. The Career Launchpad and RWA initiatives were met with great enthusiasm, especially from adults with disabilities and those with a criminal history seeking a fresh start. These programs are designed to empower such individuals and provide them with second chances, proving that everyone deserves access to fulfilling employment.

We were delighted to connect with the Public Information Officer for the Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SoCal ROC), also known as "SCROC," based in Torrance. They expressed interest in the programs offered by IWSI, particularly appreciating our focus on assisting their high school students. Collaborating with institutions like SoCal ROC enables us to further our mission of equipping the younger generation with the skills they need to succeed in the modern workplace.

In addition, the IWSI team had the chance to interact with counselors from the South Bay Investment Development Board, who operate from their Torrance office. These conversations provided valuable insight into how our programs can further align with and serve local communities.

Notably, we were also able to engage in a discussion with the Mayor of Carson, Lula Davis-Holmes. She expressed her excitement for IWSI's initiatives and extended her warm welcome to work in collaboration with the City of Carson.

The IWSI team is sincerely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Construction Job and Apprenticeship Fair. We are excited about the new partnerships forged and the potential for greater impact in our communities. By bridging the gap between job seekers and employers, we can foster a skilled, inclusive, and resilient workforce. We look forward to continuing our efforts in collaboration with the City of Carson, the South Bay Investment Development Board, and SoCal ROC.
